Flexible Spending Accounts

You have the choice of enrolling in TexFlexSM flexible spending accounts (FSAs) to help you pay less in federal income taxes by setting aside pre-tax earnings from your paycheck to cover eligible out-of-pocket health care and/or dependent care expenses.

A TexFlex account can save you money by lowering your taxable income.

Once enrolled, to change or waive your TexFlex amounts, you must take action during annual summer enrollment. The TexFlex plan year runs from September 1st - August 31st. 


TexFlex Health Care Account**

  • Set aside tax-free money for eligible medical expenses 
  • Annual pledge minimum = $180
  • Annual pledge maximum = $3,200
  • Carry over up to $640 each plan year
  • Receive free TexFlex Card to make purchases

Eligible Health Care Expenses include but are not limited to, copayments for Doctor visits, Over-the-counter medicine, prescriptions, etc. 

**Part-time employees only: TexFlex Health Care accounts will begin after a 2-calendar month waiting period.


TexFlex Dependent Care Savings Account

  • Set aside tax-free money for eligible dependent daycare expenses
  • Annual pledge minimum = $180
  • Annual pledge maximum = $5,000 per household
  • Use it or lose it - there is no carry-over amount into the next plan year
  • You receive a reimbursement after service is rendered
  • Set up direct deposit through the TexFlex website to receive reimbursements faster

Eligible Daycare Expenses. include but are not limited to, daycare, eldercare, after-school, etc.
